Padiham Town Council was established in May 2002. The Town Council area is subdivided into five Wards and each Ward is represented by three Town Councillors.

The Town Council meets at 7.00pm on the first Monday of every other month; when that day is a Public Holiday the meeting is then held on the second Monday of the month. Meetings are open to the public and are normally held in the Council Chamber at Padiham Town Hall. Please see the calendar for the current location of meetings, as the Council Chamber is currently closed for repair works.

The Planning Committee meets at 7.00pm on the third Monday of every month; when that day is a Public Holiday the meeting is then held on the fourth Monday of the month. Meetings are open to the public and are normally held in the Council Chamber at Padiham Town Hall. Please see the calendar for the current location of meetings, as the Council Chamber is currently closed for repair works.

A Town Mayor is elected by the Town Council every May, and the Mayor selects a Mayoress. There is also a Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, and all four officials have chains of office. The chains worn by the Mayor and Mayoress are those originally used by the former Padiham Urban District Council.

The Town Council’s activities include:

  • Organising major events such as Party in the Park, the Duck Race and the Christmas Lights Switch-on;
  • Managing the Town Hall Ballroom and Community Room;
  • Running the monthly Farmer’s Food and Craft Market;
  • Working with other organisations on major projects such as the Memorial Park Bandstand, Padiham Greenway and Remembrance Sunday;
  • Considering all planning applications and making representations into Burnley Borough Council’s planning process.

The Town Council office is situated in Padiham Town Hall – please see the Contact page for details.
